Żewłakow bemoans two points lost

Michal Żewłakow knows that Olympiacos CFP "need to find a way to get points away" after conceding late to draw 1-1 at home against S.S. Lazio.

Olympiacos CFP defender Michał Żewłakow believes finding form away from home will be the key to his team's hopes of qualification from Group C after the Greek side were held to a 1-1 home draw by S.S. Lazio.

Two points lost
Leading 1-0 heading into the last 15 minutes, Olympiacos were pegged back by Luciano Zauri's 77nd-minute equaliser and now face the prospect of two daunting away trips to Werder Bremen and Real Madrid CF. "We need to find a way to get points away from home," Żewłakow told uefa.com. "We gained a point tonight but from the other side we have lost two points so we have to look to get those points from the other games coming up in Bremen and Madrid."

Optimistic outlook
Having failed to win in their last 31 away outings in the UEFA Champions League, picking up points away from Greece is historically not an easy task for Panagiotis Lemonis's side, but 31-year-old Polish international Żewłakow is optimistic about their prospects. "In our group, I think all results are possible but what we have to do is concentrate for the whole 90 minutes," he added.

Key moment
Żewłakow, who enjoyed one of his better performances in central defence - including a superb block to deny Stefano Mauri - was deflated that Olympiacos let the lead given to them by Luciano Galletti's slick strike slip. "The important thing for us was to get three points tonight and we were very unlucky not to do that," he said. "I think we played well, we tried to control this game how we wanted to. I don't know what we did wrong, really. I think it was just a lack of patience and concentration in one particular moment. On the other hand I have to say that Lazio fought well to get a goal back and in the end they got what they were trying so hard for."

'We are disappointed'
Having begun their previous two UEFA Champions League campaigns with disappointing home defeats, a draw might represent pleasing progress for some - not so for Żewłakow. He said: "Everybody is disappointed because when you are leading the game for a long time and are well organised and then you concede a goal it makes getting a point disappointing, but when you are losing and then score a goal it's a point gained. For the moment we are disappointed but we believe we can be competitive in this group."
