Manchester United FC midfielder Paul Scholes will miss the club's three remaining UEFA Champions League group stage matches and is only expected back in February.

Knee ligament damage
Scholes has been ruled out for three months by Sir Alex Ferguson because he needs surgery to correct damaged knee ligaments. The 32-year-old suffered the injury in training for United's win at FC Dynamo Kyiv last week and sat out his first Premier League game of 2007/08 in Saturday's defeat of Middlesbrough FC.

'Twelve weeks'
The former England player "will be out for approximately 12 weeks", United's website stated. Scholes has made ten Premier League appearances this season and also featured in the UEFA Champions League victories over Sporting Clube de Portugal and AS Roma. The Old Trafford team lead Group F of the European competition ahead of return fixtures against Dynamo, Sporting and Roma. They are second in the Premier League, behind Arsenal FC on goals scored.
