Olympiacos switch thrills Belluschi

Olympiacos CFP believe they have added real quality to their squad after paying CA River Plate €6.5m for their prized Argentina midfielder Fernando Belluschi.

Olympiacos CFP believe they have added real quality to their squad after paying CA River Plate €6.5m for midfielder Fernando Belluschi. "I was anxious for the negotiations to be completed," said the 24-year-old. "It's a dream for every Argentinian footballer to play in Europe."

Chelsea test
Belluschi has penned a four-and-a-half year contract and could feature against Chelsea FC in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League next month if registered. "I feel lucky and very happy to be here, and I just hope I can reproduce my form from Argentina," said Belluschi, who scored 13 times in 48 matches for River Plate. "I want to get involved with training as soon as possible."

Argentinian influence
Recently capped twice by his country, Belluschi may face the toughest of introductions to European football: Olympiacos, Greek Super League leaders at the halfway stage following a weekend victory, will tackle second-placed Panathinaikos FC in a huge derby at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on Sunday. The red and whites now have five Argentinians on their books – including Cristián Raúl Ledesma, Luciano Galletti, Leonel Núñez and Rodrigo Archubi - and could make it six by moving for Juventus midfielder Sergio Bernardo Almirón.
