Shock move
The former Belgian international, who has agreed a two-year contract at the Arnold Schwarzenegger stadium, will replace Rudi Brunmayr, who this week completed a controversial move to city rivals SK Sturm Graz. "I believe he will be a worthy successor for Brunmayr," GAK coach Walter Schachner said. Goosens, 29, previously played for FC Schalke 04 in Germany.
Past and present
Brunmayr, a 28-year-old Austrian international, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Sturm after his contract with GAK expired. "Grazer is in the past, and Sturm are one of the best clubs in Austria," he said.
Transfer activity
Schachner faces a busy summer of transfer activity, having lost five players since season's end. Brunmayr joined midfield player Boban Dmitrovic at Sturm; goalkeeper Sven Scheuer left for FK Partizan; and defender Jürgen Hartmann retired. Meanwhile, Skelley Adu Tutu, Richard Hastings and Albert Yobo have all been made available for transfer.
