Competition for places
The 30-year-old arrives from Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland on a two-year deal. Van Steenberghe was out of contract at Lokeren and will compete for the No1 shirt with Daniël Zitka and Tristan Peersman.
Zetterberg returns
Anderlecht also welcomed Swedish international Pär Zetterberg on Thursday, when the Belgian league runners-up began pre-season training. The 32-year-old midfield player is back in Brussels after three years with Greek side Olympiacos CFP. Zetterberg agreed a two-year contract with the option of a third back in March.
De Bilde doubt
Meanwhile, Gilles de Bilde is unlikely to be involved when Anderlecht take on AFC Rapid Bucuresti in the Champions League second qualifying round next month. The 32-year-old striker, whose contract expires in 2004, has been told to find a new club. Anderlecht play Rapid in Romania on 30 July before the home leg a week later.
