Liverpool FC will be without defender Philipp Degen for at least another month after he suffered a metatarsal injury during a reserve-team fixture last week.

Madrid test
The 25-year-old Swiss international right-back is yet to feature for Liverpool in the Premier League because of a succession of injuries, and this latest blow will rule him out of the first leg of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie against Real Madrid CF on 25 February. He last featured for the Merseyside club in their League Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur FC on 12 November when he broke a bone in his foot. Degen joined Liverpool from BV Borussia Dortmund in June.
