The 26-year-old won the poll carried out by 'Kicker' magazine, ahead of second-placed Fredi Bobic, who recently moved from Hannover 96 to Hertha BSC Berlin. In all, 263 of the 867 participating journalists voted for Ballack, with Bobic receiving 167 votes.
