Netherlands international Arjen Robben has joined fellow countryman Louis van Gaal at FC Bayern München after completing his move from Real Madrid CF to the Fußball Arena München for an undisclosed fee.

Four-year deal
Robben passed a medical on Friday morning before putting his name to a four-year contract in a transfer thought to be worth in the region of €25m. The 25-year-old winger looked set for a peripheral season in the Spanish capital following an influx of big-money signings – most notably Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United FC – but is now relishing the next step in his career.

Good feeling
"It all happened very fast," said Robben. "There were a couple of things I wanted to think over but in the end I decided I really wanted to move to a huge club like Bayern. Right from the start Bayern gave me a very good feeling and I feel very welcome here. This is a massive club with a glorious history and I'm delighted to be here."

Raring to go
Described by new manager Van Gaal as "an explosive player", Robben could be available for Saturday's showdown with VfL Wolfsburg. "I'm totally fit, I had a good pre-season with Real Madrid and I'm ready to play," he said. Robben became the second high-profile departure from the Santiago Bernabéu on Friday after compatriot Wesley Sneijder completed his move to FC Internazionale Milano.
