Injury rules out Kaladze

Kakha Kaladze will miss AC Milan’s UEFA Super Cup meeting with FC Porto through injury.

Georgian international defender Kakha Kaladze is out of AC Milan’s UEFA Super Cup match with FC Porto next Friday after sustaining a thigh injury which could keep him on the sidelines for a month.

Prestige game
The news is a blow for Milan, who have also lost the services of captain Paolo Maldini for the prestigious encounter pitting last season’s UEFA Champions League winners against the Portuguese UEFA Cup holders.

Month out
"It looks like Kaladze will be out of action for about a month," confirmed a statement on the club website. The full-back, who played an key role in Milan’s sixth European Champion Clubs' Cup triumph last season, is now likely to miss his side's Serie A opener against Ancona Calcio on 1 September.

Muscle damage
The 25-year-old pulled a muscle in his right thigh during Milan's friendly against Romanian first division side FC National Bucuresti on Saturday. Maldini is unavailable because of an ankle injury.
