Celtic FC v Juventus promises to be a lively affair.

Manchester United FC manager Sir Alex Ferguson is relishing a match-up against Real Madrid CF:
It's the tie of the round. It's a great opportunity for our fans to see Cristiano again and also for me to meet up with José again – I'll need to order some good wine!

Meanwhile, in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 draw, reigning European champions Chelsea FC have been drawn against AC Sparta Praha. See how the rest of the draw unfolds in the UEFA Europa League DrawCentre.

Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus) & Andriy Pyatov (FC Shakhtar Donetsk)FC Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Serhiy Palkin said:
I had a feeling that we would play Dortmund. We have discussed possible pairings and spoke a lot about them. Barcelona were the exceptional team among the clubs we could get, but all other are at the same level more or less. Dortmund are quite low down in the UEFA ranking, but that means little now. They are one of the leading clubs in Europe with a great fanbase. If we want to go through we have to win in Donetsk. We know the match over there will be really tough. But whatever happens we should display the style of football which is now expected from our team.
14.14
Philipp Lahm (FC Bayern München)FC Bayern München captain Philipp Lahm has been reflecting on his side's draw against Arsenal FC:
"It's a good draw. I look forward to the reunion with Poldi [Lukas Podolski] and Per [Mertesacker]. It's always special to meet up with team-mates from the national side. It's also a team that I have never played against before and I haven't played in the stadium. We can all look forward to two very entertaining games. We have a realistic chance of reaching the next round. We will prevail if we show our full potential."

Carlo Ancelotti & Leonardo (Paris Saint-Germain FC)Leonardo, the Paris Saint-Germain FC sporting director and former Valencia CF left-back, has had his say on that particular tie:
"It is unclear whether this is a good draw or not, we will not know until the return leg. In any case, it will be a beautiful game. It will be a tough double-header against Valencia, who have good experience of this level. Valencia played in two Champions League finals [2000, 2001]. All will depend on us and we hope to be up to it. I played in Valencia twenty years ago. Their fans are unbelievable. We are happy to be going there."
13.30
Carles Puyol (FC Barcelona) & Zlatan Ibrahimović (AC Milan)One of the most storied match-ups in European Cup history is AC Milan v FC Barcelona. Here's what Barça captain Carles Puyol had to say:
"Personally I'm really happy, not because it will be in any way easy, quite the opposite in fact. I am happy because Milan are a team I have always liked and I like playing there. They have an incredible stadium and I'm sure this will be a fantastic knockout tie.[Last season] we let the UEFA Champions League and the Liga go practically in the same week. This time around we have started really well and we hope to continue along that path into 2013."
13.23
Galatasaray A player Hamit Altıntop on meeting his former side FC Schalke 04 in the last 16:
I played my first Champions League match while I was at Schalke and scored a goal against AC Milan. It will be nice to face them. There are no easy games at this level. It may seem easier than it could have on paper but I know the German culture: they will be a team high on discipline. An interesting couple of meetings lie ahead.

I know all about their stadium, and the atmosphere. Almost every match is a sell-out. In my first year there we were playing in the Intertoto Cup and there were 55,000-60,000 people their. Even if the excitement is not what we have in Turkey, there's substantial support. The Turkish community in Germany will be an advantage for us. We need to prepare well.
13.14
Pavel Nedvěd (Juventus & Czech Republic 2004)And here's Pavel Nedvěd talking about playing against Celtic for Juventus in the 2001/02 season.
13.09
Juventus director Pavel Nedvěd:
"It could be worse even if Celtic are certainly a team to respect. They defeated Barcelona in the group stage and fully deserved to qualify. I have played there in the past and I can guarantee we will see a great atmosphere, so we will need to be very focused from the start and try to match their intensity. In the knockout stages experience is very important and I hope our players will face Celtic with great determination. Playing the return leg at home offers a small advantage."

We've had some quotes from Galatasaray AŞ, and now the reaction from their opponents, FC Schalke 04, is in.

New coach Jens Keller said: "There are no easy draws at this stage of the Champions League, but I do feel that we have a chance against Galatasaray. If we deliver our full potential, we can reach the quarter-finals.

Captain Benedikt Höwedes added: It's an acceptable draw for us, but we will definitely not underestimate Galatasaray. I know the stadium in Istanbul from the national team and I know that the atmosphere is very special there. Great stadium, great city and I'm sure our fans will look forward to it.
12.49
Neil Lennon and his assistant Johan Mjällby need no introduction to Juventus: they played every minute when Celtic lost 3-2 away before beating Juve 4-3 in Glasgow in the 2001/02 first group stage. It's a stat that also give us another chance to promote our video of that second match, a classic encounter in the UEFA Champions League.
12.45
Galatasaray AŞ vice-president Ali Dürüst:
I watched the draw ceremony with our coach Fatih Terim. Any team that has qualified for this stage of the UEFA Champions League is strong. Playing our away match in Germany may be an advantage because there's a big Turkish community there. That's how our Terim's feeling on the draw as well.
12.42
Interesting news in from Ukraine. Before the draw, the FC Shakhtar Dontesk website conducted a fan poll which revealed 32.54% of users would like to see FC Schalke 04 as their opponents in last 16. Málaga CF were the second most desired tie among the fanbase with 19.95% of votes. The club Shakhtar fans didn't want their team to play? Well, it turned out to be the side they ended up with as Borussia Dortmund garnered just 3.47% of the votes.
12.32
Representing Real Madrid CF at the draw, the club's legendary former striker Emilio Butragueño said of his team's pairing with Manchester United FC:
It will be a thrilling experience for everyone. Manchester United are not only a great team but a great organisation known around the world. We are happy for that, we have a great relationship with them. But we know it's going to be tough, Sir Alex Ferguson has been there over 25 years and he's a fantastic manager – he knows how to get the best out of his players and they have top players, but we are Real Madrid and we will try our best.

[On Cristiano Ronaldo] I am sure it will be a special game for him. He's a great professional. I'm sure he's going to do his best to help us qualify. It's going to very, very special for him.

[On the José Mourinho meeting Sir Alex Ferguson again] I know they have a great relationship. We are very happy with him and I hope he's going to lead the team to the Champions League [title] to make our fans feel proud of the team.

This tie is going to be difficult. The Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in the world. Playing against Manchester United is going to be another factor for our players. They will think "I want to show what I'm made of" [against such lauded opponents]. It's very important for us to get our injured players back but the first leg is two months away so I hope we will be at our best and I hope we will be on form. It's unpredictable.
12.23
FC Bayern München chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge has spoken:
"I think we enter his match as the slight favourites, but we can be making the mistake of underestimating them. Arsenal have struggled at times in the league over the last few months, which a look upon the standings in the Premier League will tell you. But by no means will this be an easy game for us. I look forward to our game in London and back home in Munich.

Lukas Podolski as a former Bayern player is certainly a familiar face. I hope that we can be as successful as Schalke were in London, where they managed to secure a 2-0 victory. We want to set the foundations with a good performance in London, that would make things easier for us in our home game. I wouldn’t call this a lucky draw, but one that we can overcome. I look forward to seeing my old friend Arsène Wenger and I hope that we can reach the next round.

After drawing FC Barcelona, AC Milan sporting director Umberto Gandini said:
"Last season we faced them twice [the group stage and quarter-finals], this time only once fortunately. We are now used to play in Catalonia. We are all very close to Tito Vilanova and his family and we wish him all the best for his surgery. We hope he will be on the bench against us. We are improving and I'm sure we will continue to do so until February. We face a perfect machine even if they had more problems than usual this season in the group stage. Let's just hope we will qualify this time around. This is the highest hurdle we could face but if we manage to pass it we can go all the way.”

There is reaction in already from Celtic FC manager Neil Lennon. He told Sky Sports:
"We believe that over two games anything is possible. Juventus are littered with world-class stars and have been great for 18 months or so now but we’ve been pretty good too. The draw could have been kinder, but it could have been worse."

The clubs have never met in UEFA competition although the Portuguese side have a lot of experience against Spanish opposition. Despite their first meeting being as far back as April 1957, when Madrid triumphed 5-3 in the last four en route to lifting their second European Champion Clubs’ Cup, these sides have been drawn together just three times since.

The eight group winners are seeded and will be drawn against runners-up from a different group, with the other condition being that clubs cannot play against those from the same association. Those teams that finished second in their group will host the first legs on 12/13 and 19/20 February.

Burak Yılmaz found the net six times for Galatasaray AŞ in the group stage and has already scored more goals in a single UEFA Champions League season than any other Turkish player. Before his prolific streak, which constituted Galatasaray's first six goals of the campaign, he had not registered in his 16 previous matches in the competition, including qualifying. UEFA.com features editor Martyn Hindley in Nyon:
These draws are the best attended of the year in Nyon and 2012 is no different. Eight flash positions are in place outside the auditorium, awaiting immediate reaction from club representatives. While those positions are assembled and tests finalised, UEFA Champions League final ambassador Steve McManaman is being put through his paces at the draw rehearsal (see Kevin Ashby's tweet below).

So everything is clear, here are the conditions of the draw. The eight group winners are seeded and will be drawn against group runners-up while clubs cannot play against those from the same association or from within their same group. Those teams that finished second in their group will host the first legs on 12/13 and 19/20 February.

Last season it was APOEL FC, this season Málaga CF have made Europe’s elite sit up and take notice. The competition debutants are the only club in the last 16 yet to grace this stage before and – alongside fellow surprise, if more established, outfit Celtic FC – did not begin this season’s competition in the group stage. The remaining 14 qualifiers all kicked off their European seasons on matchday one in September.
