FC Porto maintained their 100% start to Group A as they shaded a five-goal thriller against FC Dynamo Kyiv to move to the brink of the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.

In a game of spectacular goals, Silvestre Varela and Jackson Martinez twice gave Porto the lead, with Dynamo levelling through Oleh Gusev and Ideye Brown, before Martinez's second of the night settled matters. A point when these sides meet again in Ukraine in a fortnight will seal progress for the Portuguese title holders with two matches to spare.

Match in 5

  • Martinez strikes twice to give Porto victory
  • Gusev cancels out Varela's opener for the hosts
  • Martinez's first then gives Porto half-time lead
  • Brown levels but Martinez hits 78th-minute winner
  • Porto top Group A with three wins out of three

Reaction

The game was difficult but it was very good to start scoring in the UEFA Champions League. To do it and get a victory is very sweet.

I believe it was individual mistakes that cost us. Our position in the standings is difficult but it is not over. We still have three games to try and put things right.
