The gears are spinning again for FC Bayern München in their UEFA Champions League bid after Thomas Müller's first-half penalty consigned Group F rivals LOSC Lille to a third consecutive reverse.
Toppled by FC BATE Borisov last time out, Bayern looked in no mood for a repeat and quickly took the upper hand, earning their reward on 20 minutes when Müller slotted in following a foul on Philipp Lahm. LOSC leant on their obvious determination to stave off defeat but were unable to land more than passing blows as their qualification hopes suffered another, surely fatal, dent.
The situation wouldn't have been pleasant had we not won. We were under real pressure, Lille put up a great fight. It's certainly no easy feat to beat them on their own turf.

Thomas Müller, Bayern forward
They didn't create much more than us, but scored the penalty and were strong after that. Unfortunately, we failed to get our shots on target.

Benoît Pedretti, LOSC midfielder

Chris Burke (@UEFAcomChrisB), Grand Stade Lille Métropole: Three defeats in three games surely spells the end for LOSC's qualification hopes. Once again, the French side were second best, unable to trouble a Bayern side back on track after taking a deserved lead and keeping things tight.
