Rudi Garcia, LOSC coach
We were a bit tentative in the first half; the second was better. The tempo was too slow before the break, but
Valencia didn't really conjure up any meaningful shots – that is why a defeat is so harsh. Unfortunately, their goalkeeper made two or three top-class stops.
The players always give their all. I knew we could make the team more technical with our substitutions, and what we did in the second half we should have done in the first. Now we must focus on the league and cups. We would have liked to give our fans the points; we deserved it.
Salvador González, Valencia caretaker coach
Finishing second despite picking up 13 points is pretty unusual.
Today's match was all about reversing the team's fortunes, putting the recent bad results behind us. It was an opportunity for the players to demonstrate that they can compete and reverse the situation.
In the first half we were better before, in the second, LOSC tightened things up. But the players were good and the victory is important. On Saturday we have a crucial match against CA Osasuna. I go into it very happy. The players have countered their situation with a positive attitude.
