Paris Saint-Germain FC took a firm grip on this UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie with an away victory against Valencia CF.

First-half goals from Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore were no more than Carlo Ancelotti's team deserved for a vivacious, confident performance, but Adil Rami clipped in a late consolation to give the Liga side hope going into the return leg on 6 March.

Reaction

Maybe we were too naive, giving away possession too easily. The return leg will be difficult based on the strength they showed here. We have to go there and try.

We showed quality and a good attitude. My team deserved to win. We played really well and must be happy but the end of the game was not good for us.
