Borussia Dortmund beat FC Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate to progress to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 15 years.
Tied at 2-2 from the first leg, the reigning Bundesliga champions soon took control, Felipe Santana's bullet header giving them a lead that was swiftly doubled by Mario Götze's sweeping finish. Jakub Błaszczykowski rounded off a comprehensive victory in the second half with a third goal for Jürgen Klopp's adventurous side, who have no reason to fear anyone in the draw for the last eight.
This game ranks very highly for us and it's an extraordinary moment. Our entire Champions League season has been running very smoothly.

Jürgen Klopp, Dortmund coach
Overall, the result corresponds with what we all saw. Borussia deserved to go through. I hope they reach the final, they're a very strong side.

Mircea Lucescu, Shakhtar coach

Andy James (@UEFAcomAndyJ), BVB Stadion Dortmund: Once again Dortmund show maturity to belie their modest European experience to eliminate Shakhtar. Win by win, this precocious young team is starting to believe this could be their year.
