Brave B36 downed by Torpedo

FC Torpedo Kutaisi 5-2 B36 Tórshavn A double from Malkhaz Asatiani put Torpedo on top.

FC Torpedo Kutaisi 5-2 B36 Tórshavn
Two goals from striker Malkhaz Asatiani earned Georgian outfit FC Torpedo Kutaisi a comfortable 5-2 home victory over B36 Tórshavn at the David Kiladze stadium.

Early pressure
Kutaisi were in dominant mood from the whistle with Valter Guchua rattling the woodwork early on. An opener seemed inevitable and it arrived on 15 minutes when Asatiani latched on to a deflection and fired a long shot into the net.

Asatiani`s night
It was a fantastic night for Asatiani, and he consistently threatened the visitors' defence. The Torpedo striker broke down the right on 33 minutes, and set up Zurab Ionanidze to double the lead. B36 appeared more positive towards the end of the half, with Magni Lakjuni hitting the post and John Petersen blasting the ball wide after a good one-on-one chance.

Lakjuni response
Following the interval, it was Asatiani in the spotlight again, as the striker curled in another long shot to secure a 3-0 lead seconds after the restart. However, the Faroese hit back eight minutes later when Magni Lakjuni tapped in a pass from Jakup Borg.

Torpedo recovery
The hosts recovered quickly, Kakha Kvetenadze blasting a 35-metre shot into the top right-hand corner. Second-half substitutes David Janashia and Andriy Poroshyn launched another attack for the Kutaisi side, and Janashia set up a header for Poroshyn to make it 5-1. However, B36 pulled a goal back when Bardar Mortensson's free-kick went in off the crossbar.

'Bad game'
"They have allowed two goals from an amateur team, and they give them three more chances - that's a bad game," B36's Polish coach Piotr Krakowski said when asked about his opponents' display.

'We stopped playing'
Torpedo coach Alexandr Shtelin said: "We were not tired, as there was no reason to get tired. But we stopped playing after scoring five goals - and that's why we conceded two goals." Despite B36's bravery, it is Torpedo who look certain to face AC Sparta Praha in the second qualifying round.
