SL Benfica 0-1 S.S. Lazio (Agg: 1-4) César strike ensures Lazio qualify for group stage.
S.S. Lazio became the fourth Italian club to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage by defeating SL Benfica in both legs of their third qualifying round encounter.
César seals it
The capital club join Internazionale FC, Juventus FC and holders AC Milan in tomorrow's draw after Brazilian defender César's solitary goal gave them a 1-0 victory on the night and a 4-1 triumph overall.
Supporters silenced
The game was played in Oporto as work continues on Benfica's stadium ahead of UEFA EURO 2004™ next summer, but the home crowd began the longer journey home unhappy after César's 26th-minute strike gave their side too steep a mountain to climb.
