Two second-half strikes secured a solid lead for Slovenian champions NK Gorica in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie with FK Tirana.
Mladen Kovacevic opened the scoring in the 66th minute, before Valter Birsa doubled the advantage eight minutes from time to give the home team a useful cushion to defend when they travel to Albania next week in their quest to make it through to the second qualifying round.
CSKA Sofia next
PFC CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria will provide a stern test for the aggregate winners of this tie. Gorica came within two games of reaching the competition's group stage last term before a 9-0 aggregate defeat by AS Monaco FC.
