LOSC Lille Métropole coach Claude Puel described his side's 2-0 victory against AC Milan as the club's best UEFA Champions League display in more than two years whilst opposite number Carlo Ancelotti was left bemoaning a "poor" performance.
Claude Puel, Lille coach
I would not say it is a dream come true but it was an objective we managed to achieve. We were very fluid in our work and I think both the victory tonight and qualification overall were deserved. I didn't even look at Milan's lineup because I was sure we could get a good result, if we played as I know we can. Milan were already through but still gave us a few problems until we scored our second goal. I think it was our best performance in two years of UEFA Champions League football. We are improved from last year - we scored eight goals compared to just one last season. We are a small club but are on the right path to be competitive at this level.
Carlo Ancelotti, Milan coach
We were very poor, I don't think we have played as badly as we did tonight. I thought we were improving but tonight proved the oppposite. We had no ideas, no lucidity and no determination. The defeat was not too painful because we were already through, but we have a lot of work to do before the last 16. The squad are united but have to give more than they showed tonight and I hope this defeat will wake us up.
