Madrid are back in front and again it is a set-piece that causes the problems. David Beckham's deep corner from the right is met by Iván Helguera, whose header loops over the helpless Kahn and is touched over the line by the merest flick of Raúl's head. Two-one to the Spanish side.

The German side pull level 13 minutes after falling behind as the Brazilian centre-back heads past the exposed Iker Casillas. Willy Sagnol aims a right-wing free-kick towards the far post where Lucio loses Fabio Cannavaro and his thumping header gives the Madrid goalkeeper no chance. Bayern have a valuable away goal.
