Hitzfeld cautions against celebration

Ottmar Hitzfeld warned that the hard work is to come after his FC Bayern München team advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Real Madrid CF. "We haven't achieved anything yet," he said, while Fabio Capello was left stunned by Roy Makaay's record-breaking early strike.

Ottmar Hitzfeld, Bayern coach
The last ten minutes were very exciting - I really could have done without that. The 2-0 lead was justified, also a 3-1 or 4-2 would have been possible. This match had different phases. In the first 30 minutes we were the better team, then they gave us problems defensively. In the second half we again had the better start and continued to push forward, even after the second goal. To play against Real Madrid is always a great challenge, they are an extraordinary team. We can be proud that we have beaten them and are now in the quarter-finals, but we haven't achieved anything yet. In the Bundesliga we are not even in a qualifying place for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Fabio Capello, Madrid coach
The early goal changed the match completely - all our plans and preparation went out of the window. After only eleven seconds we had to face this handicap. It was a very bad situation. We played a good match, had a lot of chances, but we weren't lucky enough to score in the first half. Bayern's victory was not deserved, because Oliver Kahn had to keep out more chances than Iker Casillas. We scored four times against Bayern and that was not enough - that is really incredible. My personal future? That depends on the president of the club.
