History
• FCK was formed in 1992 following the merger of 15-time Danish champions Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (the oldest football club in continental Europe) and Boldklubben 1903. As well as winning the title seven times, B 1903's most notable achievement on the European stage up to that point had been a 6-2 victory against FC Bayern München in the second round of the 1991/92 UEFA Cup, en route to a 6-3 aggregate success.

• The merger proved an instant success as FCK won the Danish title in their first season. Maintaining such high standards proved difficult. FCK survived a relegation battle in 1994/95 before collecting more silverware with Danish Cup triumphs in 1995 and 1997. They reclaimed the title in 2000/01 under English coach Roy Hodgson.

• That was the start of a golden period for the club, who would win five titles between 2001/02 and 2008/09 including the league and cup double in 2004 and 2009.

• On the European front FCK qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in 2006/07, becoming only the third Danish team to do so. Despite beating Manchester United FC and Celtic FC, and drawing with SL Benfica, FCK's seven points were not enough to lift them off the foot of Group F.

• Further titles followed in 2006/07 and 2008/09, while in 2008/09 FCK progressed to the UEFA Cup round of 32, the first time they had survived the new year in European competition.

• Even better was to follow after another league title was secured in 2010, FCK progressing from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and through the group stage to reach the round of 16 for the first time.
