Stabæk IF made home advantage count as four goals from Swedish players proved the difference between the Norwegian side and KF Tirana after the sides played out a 1-1 draw in Albania six days ago.
Segerström double
Two strikes in three first-half minutes from Pontus Segerström gave the home side a platform and their path was all but sealed when Fredrik Berglund made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time. Pontus Farnerud finished the scoring after the break and set up a tie with Danish outfit FC København or FK Mogren.
Nerves settled
Any nerves in the home ranks were laid to rest when defender Segerström pounced on 15 and 17 minutes – both goals coming from free-kicks from wide areas. Striker Berglund latched on to a pass from Daniel Nannskog one minute before the break to underline Stabæk's superiority and there were still 35 minutes remaining when Farnerud concluded the night's scoring with a thunderous shot from 20 metres. Tirana were second best throughout and their evening was soured further when substitute Laurent Mohellebi was sent off 17 minutes from time.
