Leandro dents Levadia hopes

FC Levadia Tallinn 0-1 Debreceni VSC
Leandro's lone strike 70 minutes into the first leg in the Estonian capital left the Hungarian titleholders well-placed to advance.

Conquerors of Polish champions Wisła Kraków in the previous round, FC Levadia Tallinn have it all to do to produce another upset after suffering a narrow home defeat by Debreceni VSC.

Early scares
Leandro's 70th-minute goal was enough to put the Hungarian titleholders in command at the midway point of this UEFA Champions League third qualifying round contest. Andras Herczeg's team had travelled to Estonia without the influential pair of Jozsef Varga and Péter Maté yet after surviving some early scares, they took control in the second period and got their reward through Leandro.

Nahk denied
Although Debrecen started positively, it was Igor Prins' Levadia – featuring the same XI that defeated Wisła – who created the first chances of note. After 16 minutes Levadia captain Konstantin Nahk hit the post with a 20-metre shot and the same player then drew a diving save from Debrecen goalkeeper Vukašin Poleksić.

Leandro follows up
The visitors gave a warning of their goal threat close to half-time, however, with a Péter Czvitkovics free-kick just over the crossbar and the booking Nakh received in the prelude to that set-piece rules him out of the return. Debrecen will be favourites to advance having gained their advantage when substitute Adamo Coulibaly broke through on the Levadia goal and though keeper Martin Kaalma saved his shot, Leandro followed up to score.
