A devastating 21-minute spell after half-time earned Rosenborg BK a 3-0 second-leg win to seal a comprehensive UEFA Champions League third qualifying round success against AIK.

One goal ahead after the opening instalment in Solna, Norwegian titleholders Rosenborg were unable to rest easy in Trondheim until Rade Prica doubled their advantage ten minutes after half-time. That proved the catalyst for Nils Arne Eggen's side, who ensured their place in the play-offs thanks to goals from Vadim Demidov (64) and Mikael Lustig (76).

It was not always so easy, though, with AIK giving as good as they got throughout the opening period. Although it was Prica who spurned the clearest opening of the half when he shot over from close range on 24 minutes, AIK's Per Karlsson and Mohamed Bangura both had chances to level the overall score.

It was not to be, however, and Rosenborg made their visitors pay in emphatic fashion. Prica was first on the mark, making amends for his earlier profligacy when he collected Per Ciljan Skjelbred's pass and shot beyond the reach of Ivan Turina. Once Helgi Daníelsson had headed wide six minutes later it was clearly not going to be AIK's night. Further evidence arrived when Demidov met Trond Olsen's free-kick with a header that evaded Turina, who was beaten for a third time by Lustig's delightful effort 14 minutes from the final whistle.
