Deschamps says Chelsea are out of this world

Didier Deschamps admitted Chelsea FC were on "another planet" after watching his Olympique de Marseille side outclassed at Stamford Bridge. Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti credited the visitors for an improved second-half performance, though by then Chelsea were already 2-0 up and well on course for the Group F spoils. And still they managed to hit the woodwork twice.

We are top of the group and top in the Premier League so everything is OK

Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea manager
We have six points and a good chance of finishing first. It was an important result as it was not an easy game. Marseille played well in the second half. We played very well in the first half and created a lot of chances. Defensively we were good but we could have done better in possession. It was a good game.

They took a lot of risks and put more pressure on us, giving us room to hit them on the counterattack. But that's normal because they were 2-0 down. We worked hard together to defend our lead, we did well. We are in a good position. We are top of the group and top in the Premier League so everything is OK.

Didier Deschamps, Marseille coach
We came here with hope and ambition but Chelsea are on another planet. It shows the gap between ourselves and teams like Chelsea, who are among the favourites to win the Champions League. They play with a high tempo, putting pressure on you when you are in possession. They were physically strong and also displayed some fine technical skills – it hurt us a lot. We tried to keep it tight but we couldn't keep the ball away from our goal.

Two up, in the second half they allowed us to enjoy a bit more possession while looking to hit us on the counterattack. Admittedly, [Charles Kaboré] was not 100% but we could have had any player out there: it wouldn't have changed a thing.
