SV Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf says he wants his team to start making "an impression" in UEFA Champions League Group A when FC Twente come to town on Tuesday with both sides two points adrift of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur FC and yet to win. Whereas Bremen are on a poor Bundesliga run, Twente will be on a high after a weekend win at PSV Eindhoven.

Thomas Schaaf, Bremen coach
Tomorrow we want to make an impression in our group. I think it is an important match and it will decide if we are still in Europe in the new year or not. If we are successful then our next match willl decide if we play in the Champions League next year.

We have to play with total focus and not just for 20 minutes, like we did on Saturday against Nürnberg, but 90 minutes. Twente are a good team and played very well in recent weeks. They come here with a lot of confidence. Obviously it is a blow to have so many injured players. We are not as flexible as with a full squad. But anyway we will have a good team.

Michel Preud'homme, Twente coach
Bremen played very well at our stadium and it will not influence what we do that they are probably going through some problems at the moment. I want to win every match. I also wanted to win against Inter and I want to win tomorrow. Of course the opposition in the Champions League is very strong and so sometimes you have to be satisfied with a draw.

I think in our group everything is still possible. Inter will be first but behind Inter nothing is decided. It is important that we don't lose tomorrow, a draw could be enough but a defeat could finish us in this group.

Team news
Bremen
Petri Pasanen sustained a thigh injury in the run-up to the weekend game against 1. FC Nürnberg, with a similar problem ruling Clemens Fritz out of that fixture and neither will face Twente. Goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz has made four successive appearances due to injuries to Tim Wiese (knee) and Christian Vander (groin), while Tim Borowski (ankle), Sebastian Boenisch (knee) and Naldo (knee) are long-term absentees.

Twente
Goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov is set to play despite sustaining a hamstring injury late in Saturday's win at PSV, which Dwight Tiendalli (bruised knee) and Rasmus Bengtsson (illness) both missed. Of the two, Bengtsson is more likely to play while Wout Brama is doubtful due to a hamstring problem. Nicky Kuiper (knee), Emir Bajrami (ankle) and Bart Buysse (ankle) are also on the sick list.

Weekend results
30/10/10 Bremen 2-3 1. FC Nürnberg
(Almeida 5, Pizarro 90+2; Gündogan 45 73, Ekici 47)
Hugo Almeida came in for the injured Fritz, but Schaaf's side have won just three of their last 12 games in all competitions. Claudio Pizarro has scored in each of Bremen's last three games, and has overtaken Giovane Elber (133 goals) as the leading non-German scorer in Bundesliga history; he now has 134 goals.

30/10/10 PSV Eindhoven 0-1 Twente
(Chadli 60)
Nacer Chadli's first Eredivisie goal sent the Dutch titleholders to the top of the league for the first time this season. Twente have won their last five league games and are the only unbeaten side in the Dutch top flight having inflicted PSV's first defeat of the campaign.

Bremen's six previous visits to the Netherlands have brought five losses and one draw. The only time they avoided defeat was a goalless draw at AZ Alkmaar en route to a 2006/07 UEFA Cup quarter-final victory.
