Mircea Lucescu, Shakhtar coach
The game was very tough, as I had predicted. We competed against a well-organised side but we had scoring chances, though we weren't able to take them. As for APOEL they created a goal with their first counterattack. I hope that our luck will return soon. I wish I knew the answer of why we have to work so hard to score a goal. If I knew I would correct that problem immediately. We need to attack with more speed and power. Maybe if we had been first to score, it would be easier. I think we still have a good chance to get through to the knockout stage.
We can beat APOEL in Nicosia and of cause we have to take the points in the clash against FC Zenit St Petersburg and in our home game with FC Porto.
Ivan Jovanovič, APOEL coach
It was a tough game for us. Shakhtar are a very good side. We needed to chase everything, defend, and stay organised. I am very pleased with the end result because we knew that our opponents' passing game would be excellent. It was not easy for my players because we knew that we would need to run a lot and stay calm, focused and to try and hit them on the break. In these games, we need to take our chances.
The group is looking beautiful for us right now. I hope we can stay there but our targets remain the same. We have four more difficult games and like I have always said we need to be patient and composed.
