Slutski relieved as CSKA find their range

A record win and first UEFA Champions League clean sheet in five years, no wonder coach Leonid Slutski was content after PFC CSKA Moskva had beaten Trabzonspor AŞ 3-0.

Leonid Slutski, CSKA coach
It was clear to us that the game was going to be tough, but everything's tough for us at the moment. After our first goal we started to play more defensively and thought more about counterattacking. We knew that Trabzonspor were going to come forward and that would give us opportunities to attack. All in all, it was a decent performance and we didn't allow Trabzonspor to create anything near our goal.

We have three matches to play and we want to get back to winning ways
Şenol Güneş

It's quite a while since we kept a clean sheet in the Champions League; against Arsenal [on 1 November 2006] when Igor Akinfeev made some miraculous saves. It's obvious that we're a bit tired of all the misfortune we've had lately [with injured players and league results] but everything is starting for us now and we're glad to be still in the group. At this stage, with all our injured players, getting a result is the priority. We need to give our all in every game.

Şenol Güneş, Trabzonspor coach
We performed very well and certainly didn't deserve this defeat. We lost a game that we easily could have won. The first goal and our inability to respond despite finding ourselves in great positions gave CSKA the edge and after they scored a second, the match was theirs.

We made mistakes and CSKA were lucky – that's it. We played a decent first half but got worse after their goal. Vágner [Love] and [Seydou] Doumbia are very fast forwards that we failed to stop, so they made the most of their chances.

We had four points after two games and we still have those four points so all is not lost. Everything will depend on our next couple of matches but we have certainly lost that advantage we had before this game. We have three matches to play and we want to get back to winning ways.
