Massimiliano Allegri, Milan coach
This match proved that the players are finally finding their best form and I'm sure it'll be even better when I have all my players available. In the first half we were too impatient, we wanted to score as soon as possible and this is why we made some mistakes. The team played well in the end, and we created a lot of chances. We also allowed them a few chances but that can happen, especially when you think things will be easy.
I'm very happy because what I wanted was to win and to play well, and that's what we did. We'd like to go into the home game against Barcelona [on matchday five] level on points with them, so that we can fight for first place. We didn't have a perfect start to the season, but we didn't do too badly either. Of course, with so many injured players you have problems and I always had to field the same players, without ever resting.
Viktor Goncharenko, BATE coach
We needed to recuperate from the painful [5-0] defeat by Barcelona and we managed to do it. We had a chance to change the game but we missed out.
Milan have quality players which means that even if we don't let them get into our box they score from outside the area. We could have played more aggressively in attack.
Renan Bressan missed his chance, but mistakes happen in football, so it's wrong to blame someone just because he wasted one opportunity. We'll talk about our aims for the tournament after the return tie in Minsk.
