A busy midfielder who is always looking for space to exploit his fearsome left-foot shot, Kim Källström made his 90th appearance for Sweden in February 2012, over a third of those caps having come in the UEFA European Championship. He has participated in each of the last six UEFA Champions League campaigns with Olympique Lyonnais.
• Suffered relegation from the Swedish Allsvenskan with BK Häcken in 2001 before winning the title – and the cup – a year later with Djurgårdens IF, top scoring for the club with 12 league goals; increased his tally to 14 in a successful 2003 title defence, the second-best tally in the league.
• Joined Stade Rennais FC at the end of the 2003 Allsvenskan season and flourished in France, earning a regular place in the Sweden squad and making three substitute appearances and one start at UEFA EURO 2004.
• Also started three games and made one substitute outing at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and two from the bench at UEFA EURO 2008; reached 70 caps towards the end of 2010 World Cup qualifying, during which he squandered a penalty during a 1-0 loss to Denmark.
• Joined then Ligue 1 champions Lyon after the World Cup in Germany and helped the club defend the title; was more prominent in the 2007/08 campaign, missing just one league game as Les Gones retained the championship and lifted the Coupe de France.
• Played in each of Lyon's UEFA Champions League matches in 2009/10 – barring the semi-final second-leg loss to FC Bayern München – as they reached the last four.
• Helped Lyon regain the French Cup in 2011/12, defeating US Quevilly 1-0 in the final, and ended the season on 199 Ligue 1 appearances for the club (17 goals).
