Neil Lennon, Celtic manager
Both sides were well organised and it was a very tactical game. We can certainly take a lot from the clean sheet. With so many debutants in the competition, there was a lot of nervousness but they coped well. In terms of performance, I am pretty happy and there is a lot for us to build on for the rest of the matches.
I think a draw was probably a fair result. We didn't work the goalkeeper as much as we'd have liked. We were committed, played with real zest and no fear. It's a decent start for us, it could have been better or worse. The players have sampled it now. I'm very proud of them. I think Benfica will be the happier going home tonight.
Jorge Jesus, Benfica coach
We had the best opportunity of the first half with Rodrigo, and the same happened in the second half. We faced very strong opponents, they were very difficult and played strong, direct football, making us drop very deep. But defensively we did not let Celtic create a single goal opportunity. Our two full-backs were very strong.
In the last 15 minutes we ran out of steam a bit when attacking but I have to congratulate my players. We controlled the game as we wanted.
