'Wonderful' Porto leave Pereira purring

FC Porto coach Vítor Pereira was in no doubt his side "were always the better team" after defeating Paris Saint-Germain FC, whose coach Carlo Ancelotti blamed a gulf in experience.

Vítor Pereira, Porto coach
Today we did ourselves justice. We stayed true to our identity and our possession game. We were dynamic and had several chances – it was just a shame that we couldn't score more goals. But we had a lot of quality going forward, we were consistent at the back and always well-positioned when we lost the ball. We gave a few opportunities to PSG, which is natural due to their quality, but we were always the better team.

The team played a really wonderful first half, we just failed to score. James' [Rodríguez] goal made it a fair result because from the first to the last minute today we played great. We have six points and we're fine. These two games have proved that we have learnt from last season's mistakes. I want this collective strength to continue into the next game.

Carlo Ancelotti, PSG coach
Yes, it's our first defeat this season, but it's no wonder we lost because we faced a team more experienced than we are. We are disappointed, however, because we wanted to produce a better game here.

The fact is, that wasn't possible and we must accept it. Don't forget we're quite a new team. On top of that, Porto produced a good performance. To come here and struggle is not surprising. As I said, they are a team with a wealth of experience. But nothing changes for us, now let's prepare for Marseille [on Sunday].
