Manchester City FC fought back from two goals down to earn a draw with AFC Ajax yet they still stand on the brink of an early UEFA Champions League exit for the second year running.
Ajax took control with two Siem de Jong goals inside the first 17 minutes but City gained a lifeline through Yaya Touré's 22nd-minute strike and Sergio Agüero secured them a point with 16 minutes remaining.
I think we played well. We conceded two goals from corners but after that we played very well and created lots of chances.

Roberto Mancini, Manchester City manager
Before the match we would have taken a 2-2 draw here, but after I had the feeling that the players were disappointed.

Frank de Boer, Ajax coach

Ajax hold out for a draw, surviving late City pressure. Roberto Mancini's men are not mathematically out yet, but they are reliant on other results, as well as needing to win both their games. Ajax are much better placed, with four points from four games.
