Real Madrid CF and Manchester United FC will meet at Old Trafford on 5 March with their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie all square after a scintillating contest between two of the game's most decorated sides.
Danny Welbeck gave the visitors the lead against the run of play in the 20th minute but ten minutes later Cristiano Ronaldo's superb header against his former club brought Madrid level. It was an outstanding performance from visiting goalkeeper David de Gea on his return to his native city, however, that stole an often spectacular show at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Now it is time to go to Old Trafford. One-all is not a bad result and we can score more than one goal there. The result leaves it open, it is 50-50.

José Mourinho, Real Madrid coach
We missed some chances and the keeper made a great save in the last minute. We have got a big job on our hands but it is definitely in our grasp.

Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United manager

An excellent game comes to an end, with the tie delicately poised. United will believe they have their noses ahead courtesy of Danny Welbeck's headed away goal, scored on 20 minutes. Madrid controlled the games for long spells and drew level through Cristiano Ronaldo, but it is all to play for in the second leg on 5 March.
