Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC produced a convincing performance to take control of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying tie against Győri ETO FC.

The visitors dominated for long periods of the match in Hungary yet were forced to bide their time to make the breakthrough, Barak Itzhaki finally opening the scoring in the 76th minute. Gal Alberman then struck in added time to give Paulo Sousa's side a commanding lead to take into next Tuesday's second leg in Israel.

Maccabi enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges at ETO Park, Alberman and Eran Zahavi forcing Luboš Kamenár into action before the midpoint of the half. The home side rallied, however, threatening through Roland Varga and reaching the interval on level terms.

But the Israeli champions were not to be denied. Captain Sheran Yeini was the provider for his side's first goal, curling in a tempting cross from which Itzhaki pounced, dispatching a cool finish into the corner of the net.

A fine double save from Kamenár briefly stemmed the Maccabi tide but Alberman put the result beyond doubt, slamming home from the edge of the area with the last kick of the match.
