FC Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester United FC remain unbeaten in UEFA Champions League Group A after a 1-1 draw at the Donbass Arena.

In a game of few chances, the visitors went ahead in the 18th minute when Danny Welbeck took advantage of a slip by Yaroslav Rakitskiy. The Pitmen seemed to be running out of ideas but gained a share of the spoils with 14 minutes to go, Taison firing an unstoppable shot past David de Gea following an errant clearance from Nemanja Vidić.

  • Pitmen travel to Leverkusen next, United host La Real

Reaction

It is a good point. They have a great record against English teams and the team stood up well to it.

The draw is not the worst option for both sides. But we were not thinking like that before the match.

Minute By Minute

  • End Time
    The final whistle is blown.
The referee draws to a close a cagey affair. United defended well for the majority of the match and took the lead through Danny Welbeck, but Taison levelled things up with a fine strike late on. Both sides are likely to be relatively happy with the point, although Shakhtar enjoyed more of the pressure.
