Neil Lennon, Celtic manager
Lapses in concentration have cost us the game. We didn't take our chances tonight and that, I think, has been the story of the campaign for us. But that is where we are – it may be the end of the road, but we will endeavour to get back next year.
I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded from corners. That was the most disappointing aspect, plus the chances we missed. We've competed tonight, but it's mainly the defensive part of the pitch we're talking about. We all enjoy the European experience, but we'll learn from this campaign and do everything we can to come back next year and compete.
We have players here who need more game time to prove themselves and bed themselves into the squad. We lost [Adam] Matthews, [Scott] Brown, [Nir] Biton and then [Beram] Kayal tonight. Our squad is not as big as others. Milan have improved since the first game. I said before the game I wouldn't take too much notice of their domestic form.
We created more chances tonight than in San Siro. We've had a heavy start to the season, injuries and suspensions catch up with you. I didn't think we were outplayed, it wasn't wave after wave of attacks. Big moments change the course of the game. Milan took their chances, but we contributed to our downfall. We have to improve if we are to continue to play in the Champions League.
Massimiliano Allegri, Milan coach
It was a very good evening for us. My players deserved this victory because they played very well, especially in the first half when they were technically very good. It was not easy – Milan had won in Glasgow only once before, in 1969 – so I'm very pleased with my players for such a clear victory in a difficult stadium.
When you don't win games, it's normal to be criticised, but you shouldn't only look at the results. We created a lot of opportunities recently, but, incredibly, did not manage to win games. Celtic had a great opportunity to equalise early in the second half and we scored the second immediately after. Football is like this.
I'm very happy with the performance of Mario Balotelli. He was good, both in attacking himself and in helping the midfielders push forward.
