FC Salzburg's Adi Hütter would have liked a third goal but thinks his side are in charge

They managed to score a goal, but I think that we were the better team in the course of the 90 minutes

Markus Rosenberg, Malmö forward
We were both offensive teams. Of course Salzburg had many chances, but we also had chances. I could have scored a few times and in the end we scored a very important goal. We are very happy with the result. We are very strong at home, we beat Sparta Praha 2-0 and we have won many games at home with our fans behind us, so it was a good result in the end.

It is tough on a day like this, when you do not get the ball in the net when you have chances. Hopefully I score a few goals at home instead. Salzburg are favourites. They were favourites from the beginning, but we showed today that we can put in a good performance and at home we are full of confidence. We know that we can beat any team at home.

Åge Hareide, Malmö coach
That is football for you; 2-1 is, of course, a very good result for us. After the first goal we had a great chance through Rosenberg and being 1-0 down at half-time was acceptable for us. At 2-0 the result could have been three or four and that would have meant the end for us. But we managed to pull one back at the very end.

This away goal is very important for us. It is fantastic. I am happy with the result. At home we will have a big crowd behind us. It will be loud and this always gives an edge to our team. I think that Salzburg will be surprised by that, so we are looking forward to welcoming them.

Stefan Ilsanker, Salzburg midfielder
It is very good, we won 2-1. The goal at the end was unnecessary, we should have kept a clean sheet and maybe we could have converted one or two more chances. But we won. We are in a very good position and we will play for a win again in the second leg. Of course we should have converted our chances, especially Kevin [Kampl] when he was through alone, but this happens. We deserved the win, we have put in a really good performance and that makes me positive for the second leg.

We are FC Salzburg, we always play the same style. We will approach the second leg exactly the same as today and we will play to win, we will play offensively and put them under pressure. We will force them to make mistakes and then we will again have chances. I think we have a very good chance to win if we perform like today.

Adi Hütter, Salzburg coach
The most important thing is that we won. We have the upper hand now. Malmö will have to chase victory in the return leg. I am sure that we will have our chances in Sweden. It would have been nice to score the third, we were a bit unlucky there. In any case everything is possible for us before the return leg and Malmö will have to do more than they managed tonight.

Malmö had some nice opportunities, of course, but they were the result of our errors, not of their superior play. And this is the Champions League, not the Austrian Bundesliga, and it is to be expected that the multiple Swedish champions have some scoring chances. The same can be expected from us in Sweden. They managed to score a goal, but I think that we were the better team in the course of the 90 minutes.
