Giorgos Donis, APOEL coach
A big congratulations to everyone – the players and the fans. This is a massive achievement for the team. In ten months, we have achieved so much and this was a huge target for us. Now we need to set some new targets. In all my years as a coach, Aalborg were tactically the most difficult opponents.
This is the finest moment of my coaching career and I feel fortunate to belong to this club. The club gives me what I need. We are in the group stage of the Champions League because we knocked out a very tough domestic league. I would love to play Juventus and Olympiacos.
Nuno Morais, APOEL captain
It is an excellent feeling to be back in the group stage of the Champions League. We really wanted to go through and managed to do it. We will be there once again. I would like to thank everyone for this wonderful achievement. If somebody had told me I would be in the Champions League group stage three times when I moved to APOEL I would not have believed them. This was a great performance. The fact we were very organised played a big part in this success.
Marios Antoniades, APOEL defender
This is something unique for me, especially since I didn't get much playing time in the past. We were more than ready to face AaB and with 20,000 fans behind us, we managed to achieve this great feat. We are rejoicing but we are also looking forward. I was expecting a tight game but after we went 2-0 up the game opened up.
Cillian Sheridan, APOEL forward
I certainly wasn't expecting us to win 4-0 against such a good side. We were confident of getting the win but this was a thoroughly great performance. It does make me feel lonely that I am the only Irishman in the Champions League but it is also a good thing. It was a shame [former club] Celtic did not go through. My final game for Celtic was a defeat by Aalborg in Europe, so it was a case of revenge tonight for me.
Kent Nielsen, AaB coach
I was surprised we made so many huge mistakes. We could have gone into half-time at 1-1 after we missed a big chance and then it would have been a different game. But all in all, APOEL were the sharper team and deserved to go through.
Nicolai Larsen, AaB goalkeeper
It has been a strange day. I got selected for the Danish national team today but maybe tomorrow I can be happy about that. Right now I am disappointed with the defeat. The 4-0 result is very harsh. We made some mistakes and they were clinically punished by APOEL.
