Match background

Atlético
• Atlético have taken maximum points – and not conceded a single goal – since succumbing 3-2 at Olympiacos on matchday one.

• The Rojiblancos are chasing a third straight home victory in Group A having already beaten Juventus (1-0) and Malmö FF (5-0).

• Atlético have won 19 of their last 21 matches at the Vicente Calderón in UEFA competition. The only defeat was a 2-0 reverse to FC Rubin Kazan in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 in February 2013.

• Atlético's home record against visitors from Greece is W6 D0 L1. That solitary defeat came the last time they hosted a team from the Greek Super League, going down 3-2 to Aris Thessaloniki FC in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League.

• Diego Godín, Mario Suárez, Tiago and substitute Raúl García played in that matchday five loss, which followed a reversal in Greece in their opening fixture.

Olympiacos
• Olympiacos are seeking to end a four-game losing streak on their travels in the UEFA Champions League. This run includes Group A defeats at Malmö (0-2) and Juventus (2-3).

• The Thrylos have never won in Spain, where their record reads P13 W0 D2 L11.

• Giannis Maniatis and substitute Kostas Mitroglou are the only survivors of Olympiacos's 3-0 loss at Levante UD in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League round of 32.

• They have been beaten on their last four trips to Liga opposition and last avoided defeat in Spain when holding RC Deportivo La Coruña 0-0 in the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League group stage.

Coach and player links
• Olympiacos coach Míchel was born in Madrid and, as a player with Real Madrid CF, faced Atlético 25 times between 1984 and 1996 (W15 D5 L5), scoring three goals. His record as a coach against them with Getafe CF and Sevilla FC was W2 D2 L2.

• Atlético boss Diego Simeone helped Argentina thrash Greece 4-0 on the latter's FIFA World Cup debut appearance in the United States in 1994. His sole club outing against Greek opponents also brought a 4-0 victory, for SS Lazio against Xanthi FC in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup first round.

• Goalkeeper Roberto came through Atlético's youth ranks, playing four Liga matches between 2005 and 2009. He returned to the club briefly in 2013 before joining Olympiacos.

• Other former team-mates are Roberto and Gabi (Real Zaragoza), David Fuster and Godín (Villarreal CF), Alejandro Domínguez and Cristian Ansaldi (Rubin Kazan), Domínguez and Miguel Angel Moyá (Valencia CF), Éric Abidal and Tiago (Olympique Lyonnais).

• Alberto Botía won none of his ten games against Atlético with Real Sporting de Gijón, Sevilla and Elche CF, losing eight.

• Fuster scored for Villarreal on his solitary Liga outing against Atlético in a 2-1 away win in December 2009.

• Guilherme Siqueira played for Benfica against Olympiacos in last term's group stage, a 1-1 draw in Lisbon.
