The UEFA Europa League spot in Group H will be decided between Athletic Club and FC BATE Borisov, with the Spanish club a place and a point in front of their opponents ahead of their matchday six meeting in Bilbao.

• BATE's 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture ensured the first UEFA Champions League game at the new Borisov Arena ended in a home success. BATE went in front through Denis Polyakov and Aleksandr Karnitski extended their lead before half-time with Aritz Aduriz reducing the arrears.

• Athletic have four points, one more than BATE, so a point will be enough to secure third place; BATE have to win.

• In their sole previous group stage appearance, 1998/99, they finished fourth in their section on six points. They were unbeaten at home with one win and two draws.

• The 2-0 defeat by Porto on matchday four means that Athletic have lost two of their last 17 home European matches, winning eight.

• BATE's three previous group stage campaigns, in 2008/09, 2011/12 and 2012/13, all came under former coach Viktor Goncharenko, who left for FC Kuban Krasnodar in October 2013.

• BATE finished third in the group in 2012/13. In the UEFA Europa League they fell in the round of 32, losing to Fenerbahçe SK 1-0 away and by the same aggregate score.
