Diego Simeone, Atlético coach
This will be a tough game, with both teams pressing hard in attack. There'll be little space to play in. Fernando Torres is an important player in games like these, where you need to take advantage of the room available to you, so he will start.

I have great respect for Ancelotti as a person and what he's achieved. I knew him as a player when I was young and he was a bit older. He's a calm character. There's no right way to be: people live games how they see fit and that's what we do.

Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern coach
Playing Atlético is always difficult. It will be a hard game; they're always well organised. We're in good form and we need to show it. Everyone knows Atlético's style. They've got form in this competition. Right now the tendency in football is to play directly and on the counter.

It's all about having effective possession. Possession is important because it allows you to control the game but you need to make the most of it. It's always a pleasure to come back to Madrid. But it's not exactly great to come back to the Calderón! It's going to be a great game.

After both won in tricky circumstances on matchday one, Atlético and Bayern know another three points will go a long way to securing a place in the round of 16, even at this early stage. Simeone's men are undefeated this term and showed in drawing with Barcelona last week that they are more than capable of holding their own. Add into the mix that they ousted Bayern last season and that Simeone had the upper hand over Ancelotti when the Italian was in charge of Madrid, and Atlético are sure to fancy their chances.
