Belarus will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time at senior international level with both sides bidding for one of the top slots in UEFA EURO 2012 Group D.

• Belarus are second in the section, a point adrift of leaders France, but have played a game more than the section leaders and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are two points behind them in third place.

• Belarus have yet to lose in four Group D home games, recording two wins and two draws; their guests have only won once in three games on the road in the section, 3-0 in Luxembourg.

• The nations' Under-19 sides met in a UEFA European Under-19 Championship mini-tournament in Sarajevo on 1 October 2010, with Belarus winning 2-1.

• Clubs from the two nations have met in two UEFA club competition ties; FK Željezničar – then part of Yugoslavia – beat FC Dinamo Minsk, at the time a Soviet side, in the 1984/85 UEFA Cup quarter-finals, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 1-1 in Belarus. More recently, NK Široki Brijeg beat FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk 1-0 home and away in a 2006/07 UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie.
