Group B trio look to reel in Russia

Group B leaders Russia head into their final two fixtures with a small cushion at the summit but without the injured Aleksandr Kerzhakov and with a sizeable chasing pack right on their tail.

Group B remains wide open ahead of the concluding fixtures, with Russia, the Republic of Ireland, Armenia and Slovakia all still in contention. Dick Advocaat's team are in the ascendancy – two points clear at the summit – but could be reeled in should they lose in Zilina on Friday evening. The Republic of Ireland, currently second, are also poised to take advantage of any slip-ups, though their final fixture is a testing assignment against surprise pacakage Armenia.
