England forward Jermain Defoe has returned home from the team's Krakow base following the death of his father overnight.

In a statement on its website, the Football Association (FA) said that the Tottenham Hotspur FC striker would rejoin the squad in due course, adding that "there will be no replacement player called in" to Roy Hodgson's squad.

England arrived in Poland on Wednesday evening and begin their UEFA EURO 2012 Group D campaign against France in Donetsk on Monday.
