Krankl looks to youth again

Hans Krankl has included the uncapped Paul Scharner in his Austria squad to play Cameroon.

Austria coach Hans Krankl has made three changes to his squad for the friendly against FIFA World Cup finalists Cameroon next week as he looks to build on last month's promising start to his reign.

End of poor run
Austria beat Slovakia 2-0 in Graz in a match which marked the beginning of the 49-year-old's tenure and the end of a poor run of defeats for Austria.

Replacement for Baric
The former SK Rapid Wien and FC Barcelona striker took over the reins earlier this year from Croatian-born Otto Baric, who was fired when Austria were eliminated from the FIFA World Cup after a 6-0 aggregate defeat by Turkey in the play-offs.

Youngsters given a chance
Having handed seven players their international debuts for the Slovakia game, Krankl has stuck to his promise of reforming the team by giving another youngster, Paul Scharner of FK Austria Wien, his first chance to play for his country. Scharner replaces TSV 1860 München's Martin Stranzl while Gerd Wimmer steps in for Stefan Lexa.

Hiden recalled
Rapid midfield player Markus Hiden is recalled and takes the place of SV Austria Salzburg's Thomas Hickersberger.
