Second meeting
It will be only the second meeting between the two sides, the previous encounter, in November 2001, ended goalless.

Missed out on World Cup
Neither side qualified for the FIFA World Cup, with Estonia finishing with eight points from ten games, 16 shy of the Republic of Ireland, in Group Two and Kazakhstan were only admitted as a UEFA member last month.

Preparation for Estonia
Estonia will use the friendly match as preparation for the EURO 2004™ qualifying campaign where they will face Belgium, Croatia, Bulgaria and Andorra in Group Eight.
