Olsen opts for Bagger

Ruben Bagger is in the squad for Denmark's first EURO 2004™ qualifying match against Norway.

Coach Morten Olsen has named Brøndby IF striker Ruben Bagger in his 20-man squad for Denmark's first EURO 2004™ qualifying match against Norway in Oslo on 7 September.

Bagger surprise
The 30-year-old Bagger, yet to win an international cap, has been impressive in the opening five matches of the Danish domestic season and has scored 60 goals in 260 matches during his ten seasons with the club.

Duo missing
Martin Jørgensen and Thomas Helveg, who both missed last week's friendly victory over Scotland due to injury, are back in the fold, while FC Midtjylland goalkeeper Peter Skov-Jensen retains his place after being part of the squad for the Scotland match. Aalborg BK midfield player Michael Silberbauer makes way for Jørgensen, despite figuring in Olsen's plans at Hampden Park last week.

Denmark squad
Sørensen, Skov-Jensen, Bøgelund, Helveg, Henriksen, N Jensen, Laursen, Lustü, Gravesen, C Jensen, Poulsen, Wieghorst, Bagger, Løvenkrands, Grønkjær, Michaelsen, Rommedahl, Sand, Tomasson, Jørgensen.
