Dropped last week
The SK Rapid Wien stalwart was dropped for last week's 3-2 friendly loss to Switzerland after Krankl decided he was not match fit. But the 33-year-old may now earn his 97th cap in the Group 3 match in Vienna.
Vastic returns
Striker Ivica Vastic is also back, having been omitted from the Swiss clash because of the inconvenience the journey to Europe from his club in Japan would have entailed. Another returnee is the fit-again Grazer AK forward, Ronald Brunmayr.
Schopp shock
The only surprise in the 18-man party is the inclusion of Markus Schopp. It is the Brescia Calcio man's first call-up since the 5-0 defeat by Turkey in a FIFA World Cup qualifier last November. "We watched him in some practice games, now he gets a chance," said Krankl.
